One of the oldest grant bestowing foundations in India, the Sir Ratan Tata Trust (http://srtt.org/) began its collaboration with the School of Cultural Texts and Records in October 2012 for the purpose of preserving endangered cultural material from physical decay, fragmentation and loss, a challenge faced by all societies at all times. In recent times, digital technology has emerged as a major platform both for preservation and for wider access. While the actual physical preservation of cultural artifacts remains the central concern of archivists and librarians, it is undoubtedly true that digital surrogates greatly reduce the pressure of wear and tear on physical objects, and are also convenient to store, distribute and access.
The Trust's support has enabled the SCTR to undertake digitization efforts on a large scale. Prominent collections among them have been uploaded here.
