Description : The report covers the subjects of commercial telegrams from London, the liabilities of the government under the Customs Act, duty on Glasgow cotton maufactures, the working hours of Preventive Officers on Board ship, transmission of Bombay overland expresses by special mail trains from Benaras, survey and liccense of cargo boats, after packet postal service and the emigration of native labourers. There is a proposal for the formation of a trust for the River Hooghly and the port of Calcutta. In addition to Sir A. Cotton's address on irrigation, there are the usual reports on the finances of the Chamber.
